General Description:
Anyone listening to a recent Catholic radio talk show on modesty would rightly conclude that 1) modesty is very important and 2) no two people can agree on what it is. Modesty is a moving target because it seems to differ from family to family and from country to country. What is totally modest for one person is shockingly immodest for another. How can we be modest if we don’t even know what it means to be modest? Fr. Loya uses the theology of the body to tell us what it means to be modest by going to the core of the meaning of modesty. Using examples from art and real life around the world, he gives us the necessary principals with which we can evaluate any situation. You may be surprised by what you learn.
Fr. Loya, STB, MA, is currently the pastor of Annunciation of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church in Chicago. Before entering the seminary, he earned a degree and pursued a career in commercial art and design, after which he worked for a Church design firm. He completed his studies for the priesthood in Pennsylvania and Rome and was ordained in 1982. In 1993 he added to his Bachelor of Fine Arts by earning a Masters in Counseling and Human Services. He has directed many retreats and was a guest speaker at World Youth Day 2002. Fr. Loya can be heard weekly on Relevant Radio.
