Flagons and Decanters

This is a beautiful crystal flagon, handmade in Poland. It is hand cut with an elegant cross design.

24% lead. Measures 6 in. height. 8 oz. capacity.

Hand-cutting crystal... onto a blank crystal object, the artist applies the designs, largest patterns first.  After the pattern is fully applied, the crystal is cut.  When the large patterns are finished, smaller, more detailed designs are drawn onto the crystal and cut.  When cutting is complete, the crystal is dipped into a special acid for approximately 30 minutes to remove the white sandblast effect caused by the cutting process.  Acid dipping also rounds sharp edges and "polishes" unfinished areas.
